Meet Kyle, a Financial Management Program (FMP) Graduate

Kyle, a graduate of Penn State University, has worked at AMETEK since 2020. He is a graduate of AMETEK’s Financial Management Program (FMP), a three-year rotational experience that gives participants insights and opportunities within numerous areas of AMETEK. Here, he talks about how this opportunity that has taken him across the United States and embedded in several of AMETEK’s businesses.

What was your experience of the FMP?

My first rotation was at AMETEK Bison (formerly AMETEK Dynamic Fluid Solutions) in Kent, Ohio. I was a couple months out of college when I started, and I was able really to home in on what AMETEK is, how this program works, and what was still in store for me – as well as meeting some great people. My second rotation was at AMETEK Brookfield in Middleboro, Massachusetts, and I started to own a lot of specific responsibilities and show what I was capable of. My final rotation was at Haydon Kerk Pittman in Waterbury, Connecticut. These were each great experiences overall. AMETEK really cares about you and wants you to succeed going forward.

What support have you received from colleagues in your development?

It’s a big learning curve when you start out in Ohio, move to the Boston area and then to Connecticut. But everyone at the three rotations were very welcoming and positive. Everyone wants to help you learn. If I had a question, I could go to anyone in the company and ask them in-person or jump on a call with them. I also still keep in contact with my bosses from my previous rotations. It was a great experience! Everyone was very friendly, welcoming, and just willing to help.

How is AMETEK helping you reach your career goals?

The Financial Management Program is an accelerated three-year program that really sets you up for your future. It allows you to absorb as much knowledge as you can. We had quarterly calls with the program leadership team, and monthly calls with our mentor, where we would talk about my five-year plan and such. The whole AMETEK leadership team for this program is very involved. Everyone wants you to reach your goals. It’s a very positive culture where everyone’s willing to help you learn.

What project has been particularly satisfying for you to work on?

During my third rotation, I had the opportunity to work with Dunkermotoren – one of AMETEK’s businesses located in Germany. I traveled to the business and got an understanding of their structure – customers, products, etc. From there, I was able to use that information and work with a colleague to put together the 2023 budget for a business within Dunkermotoren called EGS Automation. I presented this to the staff there and the DVP of Finance within the division I was working in. It was very satisfying to use what I’ve been able to learn in the past three years and put together a budget at my level.

Now that you've graduated from the FMP, where are you currently working?

I am currently a Senior Analyst, FP&A and Compliance at AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology. I am based out of Oak Ridge, TN and made the move down to Knoxville, TN back in June 2023. It has been a fantastic few months since joining and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
