EcoTour

Background

The AMETEK Foundation partnered with Learn Fresh to pilot its newest educational board game, which merges eco-friendly travel with the life of a touring musician.

Educational board game combines environmentalism & STEM

The AMETEK Foundation supported Learn Fresh on the rollout of EcoTour, which promotes sustainable travel through the lens of a touring music artist.

AMETEK recently partnered with non-profit organization Learn Fresh at the inaugural event of its newest educational board game, EcoTour. The sustainability-focused workshop in Newark, New Jersey, provided high school students from Passaic Preparatory Academy with hands-on demonstrations that showcased how 3D scanning can be used to enhance sustainability.

The EcoTour game, which leverages performing musicians’ tours to immerse students in STEM, sustainability, and financial literacy learning, challenges players to travel sustainably while promoting eco-friendly practices along the way.

AMETEK’s commitment to sustainability is woven throughout our company’s operations, including our charitable giving. Since many of AMETEK’s technologies enable sustainable solutions for our customers —including solutions designed to drive sustainability in air travel and electric vehicles—partnering with Learn Fresh on EcoTour was a natural fit. With ongoing support from the AMETEK Foundation, EcoTour is offered at no cost to high school students and educators for grades 9 through 12.

During the recent workshop launch, Creaform, a business of AMETEK and leading provider of portable and automated 3D scanning solutions, highlighted how their cutting-edge innovations are transforming industries and how their engineering services are enhancing efficiency. Creaform's technology contributes to its customers’ sustainability goals, particularly in applications like renewable energy and air and electric vehicle travel.

The highlight of the presentation was a hands-on demonstration featuring one of Creaform’s 3D scanners, which produced images on-screen with high speed and precision. The students were captivated by the technology that is moving the world forward.

“It was important for us to participate in this event because we want to inspire STEM learning while also highlighting the many sustainable applications that our products can be used for,” said Philippe Cusson, Vice President of Engineering Services for Creaform Engineering. “Creaform Engineering’s services take that dedication to sustainability to the next level by helping other companies follow suit. We believe it is essential to contribute to the creation of a better world by developing daring sustainable solutions that propel companies toward eco-responsibility, one innovation at a time.”

Students received a private performance from the band Lawrence, who are partners of Learn Fresh

To help bring the EcoTour game to life, students also enjoyed a private performance from the band Lawrence, who are active partners of Learn Fresh. Across from the Prudential Center where the band would later be performing for tens of thousands of concertgoers, Lawrence played songs for the group of students and provided insights into how they incorporate sustainable practices while on tour.

“We’re proud to partner with AMETEK to help get EcoTour off the ground!” said Nick Monzi, CEO and Co-Founder of Learn Fresh. “The students had so much fun and learned a lot during the Creaform demonstration. With the generous support from the AMETEK Foundation’s funding, we’re looking forward to bringing this program to more kids in the future.”

AMETEK is proud to partner with organizations like Learn Fresh that share our commitment to STEM education while providing opportunities to showcase our innovations that make a safer, sustainable, and more productive world a reality.
