Meet Kourtney from AMETEK MOCON

Kourtney is a New Product Development Engineering Manager at AMETEK MOCON in Minnesota, USA. We caught up with her while she was attending AMETEK University – a three-day training and development program for leaders and future leaders of AMETEK. Learn more about Kourtney’s work, her experience at AMETEK University, and how she’s inspiring future STEM innovators.

How did you start your career with AMETEK?

I began working at AMETEK MOCON in late 2021. When I was interviewing, the team talked about how much they liked the collaborative environment. Now that I’m here – I totally agree and look forward to coming to work every single day.

What’s the most interesting part of your position?

Being in New Product Development, I work with all sorts of groups across MOCON. My team and I will work with the product managers, who get information directly from the customer, to make sure we are developing the most optimal solutions for their needs. My job requires me to engage with many different functions across the business, whether it be finance, purchasing, or manufacturing. We communicate about cost efficiencies, production optimization, and more. It’s a great way to get to know everyone throughout the whole business.

You currently lead a Girls Who Code club in your area. How did that get started?

When I started with AMETEK, I found out about the AMETEK Foundation through the Inclusion Council. They sent out some information about women in engineering and STEM opportunities, and I noticed they had a Girls Who Code club sponsorship. I have a daughter who’s in third grade right now and I really wanted to find an opportunity for her to learn more about STEM, so I thought Girls Who Code would be a perfect fit. I have five third graders this year and they are loving the program!

What opportunities has AMETEK offered you?

There’s a lot of things you can do at AMETEK depending on what you want to do with your career, and even where you want to go in the world since we have so many locations. I even had the opportunity to attend AMETEK University this year.

How was your experience at AMETEK University?

I had a fantastic time! Being at AMETEK University was a great way to learn more about our company. Each of the presentations taught me so much and I really enjoyed interacting with colleagues from different businesses during the breakout sessions. Everybody was willing to share their experiences and their knowledge to help me grow as a person and in my career.
